Assistance centre for the recognition of professional qualifications
Recognition of professional qualification obtained abroad is necessary if an individual has received education and rights to work independently in other European Union country in a profession regulated in Latvia and wants to work in this profession in Latvia.
Furthermore, recognition of professional qualification is necessary if an individual has obtained professional qualification in Latvia and wants to work in this profession in other European Union country where this profession is regulated.
Academic Information Centre is an assistance centre for the recognition of professional qualifications obtained abroad, provides service of help and problem solving (accordingly Article 57.b of the Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council).
Academic Information Centre:
- provides information about competent institutions in the field of regulated professions to those Latvian residents who want to work in other European Union member countries in regulated professions;
- provides information about competent institutions in the field of regulated professions to those who has obtained professional qualification in other European Union country and want to work in Latvia in regulated profession;
- issues certificates certifying professional experience and rights to work in non-regulated professions in Latvia for recognition of professional qualification in other European Union countries;
- collects documents from applicants for recognition of professional qualification in Latvia, and forwards those documents to competent institutions.
Academic Information Centre does not take decisions on the recognition of professional qualifications.
