European Transparency Tools facilitate lifelong learning and mobility of citizens. AIC serves as a contact point for Europass and EQF.

National Europass Centre

Since 2004, the Academic Information Centre has been the National Europass Centre, responsible for implementing the EU-level Europass activities in Latvia.

Europass is a designed set of tools, which aims to help citizens make their qualifications and skills clearly easily understood throughout Europe (EU Member States, EFTA/EEA countries and candidate countries). Europass brings together into a single framework several existing tools for the transparency of diplomas, certificates and competences.

National Coordination Point

The Academic Information Centre has been functioning as the Latvian National Coordination Point since February 2008.

National Coordination Points (NCPs) are national education authorities with appropriate functions, responsible for providing support and, in cooperation with other institutions and organizations, managing the national qualification alignment to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

Latvian Qualifications Database

In 2016, Academic Information Centre as the Latvian National Coordination Point (NCP) launched the Latvian Qualifications Database (LQD). The task of NCP is to ensure regular update of the database, and it is interconnected with the Europass portal.

LQD is a unique database in Latvia that contains information on full qualifications obtainable in the education system of Latvia, when graduating an accredited education programme or through validation of non-formal and informal learning outcomes. In LQD, qualification is knowledge, skills and competences certified by an education document.
