The Academic Information Centre makes a decision on the equivalence of higher education obtained in Latvia to degrees and qualifications set out in the Higher Education Law, acquired based on the legal framework that was in force until December 26, 2000. The procedure for equivalence is defined in the Cabinet of Ministers’ regulations No. 71 of February 21, 2023, „Procedure for the Equivalence of Degrees and Professional Qualifications”.

If the application is submitted electronically, the person must attach copies of the previously obtained higher education document and transcript, formatted in accordance with the regulations on electronic document creation and formatting.
If the person currently has a different name or surname than stated in the diploma, the application must include a copy of the document proving the name or surname change.
